M80 can't mount the comeback, lose to G2 in IEM Cologne Stage 2 opener
After advancing 3-1 in Stage 1, M80 were tasked with playing G2 to begin their journey in the second stage.
Despite a well-played map from Fritz "slaxz-" Dietrich, M80 weren't able to come out with the victory. The North Americans fell behind 10-2 at halftime and pulled it back a little, but it wasn't enough, as they lost 13-8 to G2.
The veto ended up putting the best-of-one on Mirage. G2 began on the CT side, take took full advantage of that fact. The European side won eight rounds on the bounce to propel themselves to their 10-2 halftime lead.
That advantage eventually turned into 12-2 early in the second half. M80 strung together six rounds with their backs against the wall, but it wasn't enough.
Former Liquid man Guy "NertZ" Iluz was the star in the map, as he put up a match-high 22 frags in the win.
