JT and Liquid upset Vitality at BLAST Bounty 2026 S2!
The new-look Liquid, led by recent signing IGL Johnny "JT" Theodosiou, had the gargantuan task of taking on Vitality in the first round of BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2.
Liquid secured a huge scalp on Anubis to take a 1-0 lead in the series and were able to steal Vitality's pick to upset the European giants 2-0.
Liquid had the choice of the first map, going with Anubis. Vitality elected to start on the T side, but it was Liquid who closed the half strong to tie things up at 6-6 going into the second side. JT had the boys humming on the attack. Despite losing the pistol and subsequent round, Liquid showed a strong T side, only losing two more rounds in the map to win Anubis 13-10.
Vitality's pick was Nuke, and it was Liquid starting on the favored CT side. Liquid got off to a strong start, but Vitality were able to claw back into the game and tie the map at 4-4. Liquid finished with a flurry, taking a 7-5 advantage at the half. Vitality took advantage of the defensive side to start the second period, taking a slight 9-8 edge. The North Americans bounced right back though, starting off a streak by winning a weak buy thanks to three frags from Jonathan "EliGE" Jablownowski. Liquid went on to make the run five rounds to win the map 13-9 and take the upset 2-0 over Vitality.
Liquid were led by EliGE, who dropped a match-high 42 frags and a superb 1.52 rating in the series.
