Mexico take down malbs-less Guatemala squad to secure final ENC NA spot

Without their superstar, Guatemala were no match for Mexico.

Team Mexico have claimed the final North American spot in the Esports Nations Cup following a win over Team Guatemala earlier today. They join Team Canada and Team USA as the three NA NA representatives set to head to Riyadh in Nomveber with all 24 teams locked in for the $1.32m tournament.

The win for Mexico comes against an underdog Guatemala squad that did not have their superstar Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa in the match, instead fielding unreal as a substitute.

Without malbs in the mix, the Club 333 core of Team Mexico were heavy favorites to win the bout, and this largely played out on the server. Ancient saw Guatemala initially started with a 2-0 lead on their CT-side before Mexico would go on to win the half 8-4. From there they easily wrapped things up with a 13-4 win to take the first map in the series.

Mirage started with Mexico taking a 4-0 lead on their CT-side as Guatemala struggled to even things up as Mexico would take the half 9-3. After switching sides, Guatemala found the first two rounds on their CT-side while trying to hang on, however the collapse came rapidly as Mexico locked in the four rounds needed to win the map 13-5 and the series 2-0.
