100 Thieves shock Falcons with huge upset in tier one debut with Gizmy
Entering BLAST Bounty Season 2 as the 31st seed, 100 Thieves did not have many options when selecting their opponent. Between Spirit and Falcons, they opted for the latter as new IGL Jack "Gizmy" von Spreckelsen's first tier-one opponent in the 100 Thieves jersey.
In a shocking upset over the super team, 100 Thieves pulled out the victory powered by a fantastic performance from veteran Håvard "rain" Nygaard.
The series began with 100 Thieves picking Nuke, but Falcons got off to a roaring 5-0 start. Though 100 Thieves posted two rounds in their T-side, they still trailed 10-2 after the first half. Falcons won the second pistol and conversion before a couple of round losses delayed their eventual 13-4 victory.
Falcons picked Dust2 for the second map, and got off to another solid start with the pistol and conversions. However, 100 Thieves showed much better performance than on Nuke, going on an 8-1 run to take an 8-4 lead at the half. Falcons got their fourth pistol win to close the gap, but 100 Thieves had a convincing T-side to take the map 13-7.
Anubis was the decider, and Falcons went on a seven-round run before 100 Thieves finally got on the board. 100 Thieves got a little streak; they were still down 3-9 going into the final half. 100 Thieves finally won a pistol and began a march back into the match as they won round after round. Falcons were unable to find any answers to their attack as 100 Thieves got nine rounds in a row, taking match point, before Falcons finally got a round. It was close, but a William "sirah" Kjærsgaard clutch won them the map 13-11.
