Official: Liquid announce JT signing
Not long after the benching of former-IGL Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, Liquid have finally announced the addition of South African IGL Ioannis 'Johnny' "JT" Theodosiou. Last month, a report from Dust2.us stated that the organization was closing in on the deal. As was expected when he made an appearance on their BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 roster, JT will make his Liquid debut this Friday in their opening match against Vitality.
Though the move has been expected for a bit, that doesn't make it any less exciting or promising, as Liquid has been in desperate need of a shake-up. After a mediocre finish to 2025, the first half of 2026 was downright depressing.
Though Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa has shown some decent form since his March addition, it hasn't been enough to deliver results, as Liquid have failed to make the playoffs at a single notable event since January. The season was capped off with a 0-2 loss to FlyQuest that sent them out in Stage 1 of the IEM Cologne Major.
Many pointed the finger at the team's leadership of siuhy and coach Viktor "flashie" Tamás Bea as pieces like the aforementioned malbsMd, as well as Keith "NAF" Markovic and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, seemed to display some fragging potential still. Add that to one of the weakest T-sides in the top 30 and an atmosphere in matches that seems outright dismal, and it's no wonder a change was coming.
With JT's addition to Liquid, he reunites with former Complexity teammate EliGE, a duo that found real success during the early era of CS2. As JT has frequently gotten more out of pieces than most expect, this is one of his biggest opportunities to step up and show how high he can go as an IGL.
With the signing of JT, Liquid's official roster is now:
-
Keith "NAF" Markovic -
Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski -
Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa -
Georgi "Jorko" Mitev -
Johnny "JT" Theodosiou -
Viktor "flashie" Tamás Bea (Coach)
