Report: Liquid close in on JT as new IGL
Dust2.us has learned from multiple sources that Liquid are in the final stages of talks to acquire Johnny "JT" Theodosiou from Passion UA. Should the move come to fruition, JT would take over the IGL role from Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, with the Polish IGL expected to be moved to the bench after serving as Liquid's skipper since April 2025.
The expected move comes after a fairly dismal season for Liquid, with the team failing to make playoffs in any S-tier events this year while also facing elimination in Stage One of the IEM Cologne 2026 Major after a round five loss to FlyQuest.
JT joined Passion UA as part of the Ukrainian organization's acquisition of Complexity's lineup in August 2025. The team found modest success in the following season, with a handful of smaller LAN wins before narrowly missing out on the StarLadder Budapest Major playoffs following a Stage Three round five loss to eventual runners-up FaZe.
Heading into 2026, the team made headlines by acquiring Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold and Santino "try" Rigal from The MongolZ and Imperial, respectively, to build a truly international roster. However, visa issues, the need to use multiple stand-ins for certain events, and the overall difficulty of melding such a diverse lineup saw the team struggle and ultimately miss out on the IEM Cologne 2026 Major.
Missing out on Cologne was followed up by a May report from HLTV that Passion UA were seeking offers for the team, with it now appearing that they are willing to sell pieces individually. Additionally, their star AWPer try is seemingly set to return to Imperial's bench after Imperial invalidating the sale, with Dust2 Brasil reporting on payment issues between the two parties.
Should JT join Liquid, he would reunite with former Complexity teammate Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski while faced with the difficult task of returning Liquid to greatness after falling to 38th in the world on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS).
Dust2.us understands that Liquid are also exploring options to replace Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, although the process is an earlier stage than that of acquiring JT, which is expected to be completed in the immediate future.
