Breaking: Valve announce the return of Cache to Active Duty after seven years
Valve have announced that Cache will replace Overpass in the Active Duty map pool when Season Four of Premier ends of July 6th, seeing the beloved map return to the official competitive rotation for the first time in seven years.
The return of Cache to the Active Duty map pool, the list of maps used for esports competitions, comes after Valve released a new version of the map back in April, making a number of visual and gameplay changes to Shawn "FMPONE" Snelling's iconic map.
The move to reinstate Cache into the Active Duty map pool has been something of a cause célèbre in the CS scene, with many pushing for its return while a number of accounts were dedicated to bugging Valve about the map on a daily basis.
Cache previously served as a mainstay of the competitive as it was in CS:GO's Active Duty map pool from 2014 to 2019, with the map playing host to a number of iconic moments throughout the years.
With this change, the new map pool for the back half of 2026 will consist of:
-
Dust2
-
Mirage
-
Inferno
-
Nuke
-
Ancient
-
Anubis
-
