ESL beef up security after fan invades stage during IEM Cologne semifinals
ESL have rolled out increased security around the IEM Cologne Major 2026 stage after a fan invaded the stage during map two of today's Falcons v. Spirit semifinal. The fan ran onto stage during round 4 of the map and ran down the length of the stage before melting into the crowd per a clip by Tamilla "irbitka" Bashirova on Telegram.
HLTV confirmed the fan was later removed from the arena per a comment from ESL.

When contacted, ESL commented on the situation to HLTV:
"Earlier this Saturday, a security breach occurred when a fan gained unauthorized access to the stage area. We took immediate action and removed the offender from the arena."
"Additional security measures have been taken to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. The safety of players, talent, staff, and participants remains our top priority, and we take matters of this nature very seriously," ESL continued.
