FACEIT rolls outs 5-year bans for cheating in policy update with Season 9 launch

Cheating will now get a five-year ban.

FACEIT is bringing a major update to its ban policy when Season 9 launches on August 5th. There are changes coming to the length of bans for cheating, smurfing, and stream sniping.

Cheating will now result in a five-year ban, with an additional two years added for every ban evasion attempt escalating to a permanent ban. Smurfing will net a three-month suspension, which could scale from one year to permanent. Stream sniping starts with a six-month ban, scaling up to permanent, also.

There will also be space allowed for harmless trash talk, but any abuse will still no longer be tolerated. Abuse will start with a minimum three-day ban.

Severe toxicity and griefing will stay at a minimum of a seven-day ban, but the first offense can now be a longer ban, depending on the severity. Repeat offenders will now face faster-scaling bans, which will become permanent with more violations.
