FACEIT to add Cache to map pool in Season 8 update

The community voted between Cache, Vertigo, and Train.

FACEIT has announced the results of its community vote to decide which map will become the eighth in the matchmaking platform's map pool.

Cache will be added to the map pool over Vertigo and Train when FACEIT Season 8 begins on April 22nd. ELO will be up for grabs just like on any other map from that point onwards.

Cache totaled 148,840 votes in the community poll, according to the announcement post on FACEIT's X account.

CS players have been clamoring for the return of the classic CS:GO map to the Active Duty pool since Valve bought the rights to the map from Shawn "FMPONE" Snelling in May 2025.

Valve has hinted at the map's return to competitive play, replying to an X user with a "Let us cook" GIF when asked about Cache's whereabouts.

The version of Cache available for play on FACEIT will be the map as it was when it was sold to Valve, and it will likely have undergone changes if and when it is added to CS2's active duty map pool.

The map is also unoptimized, compared to the rest of the maps in the pool, meaning players on lower-end computers may find quality issues on Cache.

Don't worry, though, if you don't want to play on Cache, it is completely optional. The map can be disabled in FACEIT queues for both free and premium players.

Those interested in playing Cache should download the map before its April 22nd debut on FACEIT.
