
Passion UA get torn apart by FURIA in IEM Rio opener
Passion UA are sent to the lower bracket early in their IEM Rio campaign after falling 0-2 to FURIA in their opening matchup. The team faced long odds with Justin "FaNg" Coakley standing in for Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold, but neither map was particularly close.
The series began on Passion UA's pick of Inferno. Despite a close 2-2 start, FURIA quickly pulled away to lead the game 9-3. After taking the pistol, FURIA cruised to a 13-3 win. Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis was a monster, going 17/5 with 126.7 ADR and two clutches.
FURIA picked Mirage and once again dominated the first half. Passion UA were able to get a few rounds at the end, but FURIA still led 8-4. The Brazilians took the pistol and conversion, followed by Passion UA getting a couple of round wins. However, FURIA were able to shut it down to win the map 13-7.
Passion UA are scheduled to play B8 tomorrow at 02:00PM for elimination.
