Passion UA defeat Liquid in Senzu's debut
Passion UA have defeated Liquid 2-0 in their opening match of ESL Pro League Season 23. This marks Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold's first outing and first victory with the team. For Liquid, this was Keith "NAF" Markovic first match back after missing IEM Krakow.
Passion UA would take the first two rounds, but Guy "NertZ" Iluz would break an early 2-2 tie with his MP7, spurring Liquid to five straight round wins. However, Passion UA would end the half and map the stronger of the two teams. After clutching to tie the game 6-6, Vladyslav "Kvem" Korol posted a 3K in the pistol, further contributing to what would end up being a 13-8 victory for Passion UA and 22-11 stat line on the Ukrainian's part.
Senzu opened Nuke with another pistol 3K before securing a close defuse in round five, giving Passion UA a great start on the CT side. Santino "try" Rigal would chime in with separate 3K and 4K rounds, putting his team up 8-4 at the half. After a quiet outing thus far, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski came to life with his own 4K on the second pistol, making for a more promising second half out of Liquid.
At 11-10, Passion UA would finally grab match point. In a desperate 1v2, Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek would prevail over try and Senzu, and Liquid would tie the game 12-12 to guarantee overtime. Passion UA took the first and second rounds, the latter thanks to a 3K from Ioannis 'Johnny' "JT" Theodosiou.
Liquid would rally back, but Nicholas "nicx" Lee would prevent them from taking the lead. In a 1v1 to extend the game, Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak bested Senzu and prevented Passion UA from taking the win then and there. Passion UA took back their lead, and nicx's aggression paid off once again, capping off a flawless half and securing Passion UA match point for the second time. The AWP of try would put an end to Liquid once and for all.
Senzu finished his two-map debut with 48 frags and a 1.31 rating.
