PGL Bucharest NA Closed Qualifier Day #3 recap: Voca best Wildcard and LAG outlast BOSS

Finally, we got some competitive matches.

Day three of the North American Closed Qualifier for PGL Bucharest 2026 played out last night, bringing us down to the final three. Voca, Wildcard, and LAG are the last teams still in the fight for a spot at the Romanian event. After two days of sweeps across the board, day three saw two solid series, in addition to two more stomps.

LAG got a free ticket to the Lower-Bracket Final after Aether forfeited their match. Fisher College and BOSS went head-to-head for the other spot. Though BOSS won two maps convincingly, Fisher College managed to take their pick, giving the qualifier its first 2-1 series. It only took us twelve series to get there.

United States Voca 2-0 United States Wildcard

The Upper-Bracket Final started on Voca's Dust2 pick. The squad continued their dominance with a 10-2 first half, plus the second pistol. Though Wildcard won five in a row, it was only a cosmetic comeback as Voca quickly shut it down to take their pick 13-7.

Wildcard picked Mirage, but Voca still got off to a strong 5-1 start. The teams traded rounds toward the end of the half, but Voca still emerged with a slight 7-5 lead. After taking their fourth pistol of the series, Voca had a solid T-side to secure the map 13-7, and the series 2-0.

United States LAG 2-0 United States BOSS

Though the Lower-Bracket Final was another 2-0, it was arguably the most competitive series of the qualifier so far.

LAG picked Inferno and got off to a hot 4-0 start. BOSS hit back with a strong streak of six before LAG took two more rounds at the end to tie the score 6-6. LAG started the second half slowly, going down 6-11. However, they put up a strong rest of the CT-side to tie the score again 12-12, sending the map to Overtime. LAG got the first round before BOSS got two, but a flawless T-side from LAG earned them their pick 16-14.

LAG started BOSS's Nuke pick down 0-3, but had a great rest of the first half. They got eight of the last nine rounds, taking a strong 8-4 lead. BOSS had yet another strong start to the half to tie the score 8-8, but LAG eventually broke through and won the map 13-10, taking the series 2-0.
