Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 7 Semifinal #2: Akimbo win tight 2-0 series over regain
Last night was the second semifinal of the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series 7, and it was between Akimbo and regain. Despite regain beating Akimbo earlier in the tournament to reach the playoffs, it was Akimbo who emerged victorious in the semi in an extremely competitive 2-0.
Akimbo picked Mirage for map one and got off to a quick 4-0 start. However, regain controlled the rest of the half to put Akimbo down 5-7. After winning the second pistol and conversions as well, Akimbo retook the lead 9-7. A competitive rest of the half sent the game to overtime. Once there, Akimbo swept regain to take map one 16-12.
regain picked Ancient for the second map, but again Akimbo took an early lead. regain had a round streak in the middle, but Akimbo took two at the end to tie the score 6-6. The second half was similar, with Akimbo taking the pistol and regain dominating the middle before Akimbo got a few to send the map to overtime. Unlike map one, overtime was more back and forth as the teams remained tied 15-15 after six rounds. After overtime two, Akimbo emerged victorious, taking Ancient 19-17.
Maks "laxiee" Andryei, who has been on HLTV's Prospect list three times this year, was the standout performer for Akimbo. He had 18 multikill rounds, 55 kills, and nearly 90 ADR.
