SkinBid is shutting down

SkinBid, CS2 skins marketplace owned by ohnePixel and zipeL, declares bankruptcy

Withdrawals must be completed by December 5th.

SkinBid, a popular online marketplace for trading skins, is shutting down soon.

The platform, owned by the famous streamer Mark "ohnePixel" Zimmermann and the ECSTATIC co-owner Oliver "zipeL" Behrensdorff, was placed under bankruptcy proceedings on November 21st. SkinBid users have to complete withdrawals by Friday, December 5th.

It's unclear what led to this, but fans noted that SkinBid's bankruptcy comes one month after Valve added a Trade-up contract that allows players to exchange five Covert skins for a knife or a pair of gloves.

As a result of that update, the CS2 skin market cap has fallen by billions, but is slowly recovering.

zipeL commented on SkinBid shutting down via his X profile:

400,000 amazing users, great employees, and four years of hard work come to a close. My dream was to run an EU-compliant marketplace; I did, but ultimately it did not work out.

Ups and downs, loads of obstacles, some completely out of our control, but ultimately it ends like this. Spent a huge amount of time and money over the last years- but at least I walk away with mostly good memories, friendships, and a lot of valuable lessons.

I am proud of the product we built and proud of the way we chose to operate in this space. Thank you to everyone who helped along the way, for the kind words & the support and selflessness from many people in the space. Sorry to those we disappointed. My focus for now is to assist in shutting down in an orderly fashion.

If you have any skins on SkinBid, be sure to withdraw them by December 5th.
