Canadian org Gaimin Gladiators bench roster, weigh exiting CS2 due to Major revenue changes
Following a dismal last-place finish at IEM Cologne, Gaimin Gladiators have announced the benching of their remaining South American core and assistant coach. Players Fernando "fer" Alvarenga and Jhonatan "JOTA" Wilian, as well as head coach João "horvy" Horvath, have already departed from the organization.
Having been eliminated so early in the Major, Gaimin Gladiators will receive only a 0.72% share of sticker revenue under Valve's new royalties system. The team announcement cites "recent changes to the Major ecosystem and revenue structure" as an influence in their decision to reevaluate.
Unfortunately, the South American squad was only able to amass 16 rounds over four maps of play in Stage 1 of Cologne. Four of their players accounted for the bottom seven of the stage, statistically speaking. These poor results were surely a factor in Gaimin Gladiators' unoptimistic assessment of their future in CS2.
The benched roster is:
-
Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato -
Henrique "HEN1" Teles -
Luca "Luken" Nadotti -
Luan "lopz" Lopes (Assistant Coach/Analyst)
