Media: FaZe are reportedly interested in MartinezSa as Gentle Mates leave Counter-Strike
Shortly after their final match of the season, Gentle Mates co-founder Corentin "Gotaga" Houssein announced that the French organization would be exiting Counter-Strike. The announcement came just a few hours after French insider Sébastien "KRL" Perez leaked the news alongside the information that Spanish organizations "Heretics, KOI, and GIANTX" were potentially interested in the team.
Though the Gentle Mates Counter-Strike roster spent some time in the VRS global top 20, they have been treading water for a while. After failing to make the IEM Cologne Major, the roster missed the playoffs at IEM Rio and PGL Astana, while mixed success online saw them drift out of the tier-one invite range.
As an organization accustomed to partner leagues in games like Call of Duty and VALORANT, Gentle Mates simply weren't willing to invest the money needed to be competitive in Counter-Strike. Gotaga said that CS is just too expensive for them at the moment.
While a few organizations consider entering CS with the newly available core, one member has an interest from another place. AWPer Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez is being targeted by FaZe, according to KRL and HLTV, who said FaZe "have not made a final decision on what player or players will be replaced."
Gentle Mates are for the moment:
-
Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández -
David "dav1g" Granado -
Pere "sausol" Solsona -
Alejandro "alex" Masanet -
Antonio "MartinezSa" Martínez
