NRG succumb to Imperial and are knocked out of the StarLadder Budapest Major
NRG are out of the StarLadder Budapest Major following a 2-0 defeat to Imperial on the last day of Stage 1 this Thursday, November 27th.
NRG, who played the Major with the coach Damian "daps" Steele in place of Nick "nitr0" Cannella, enjoyed an amazing start in the tournament. They beat Ninjas in Pyjamas and FaZe to finish the first day 2-0 up, but failed to maintain the same level in the best-of-three matches.
The series started on Nuke, and NRG kept up with Imperial in the first half. But they've had a rough time once switching to the T-side, and Imperial ran away with a 13-8 victory.
The T-side struggles continued on Train, as NRG converted only two rounds. That ultimately killed their chances of tying the series, as they needed an impeccable CT-side. Imperial eventually found their rhythm on the T-side and closed out the game before NRG had any chance.
Even though this isn't the end that NRG wanted after their amazing start, it's by no means a bad campaign. They've had a good chance against Fnatic yesterday, but lost narrowly.
While NRG are out of the Major, M80 advanced to Stage 2 and will know their first opponent once Stage 1 wraps up after PARIVISION vs. Legacy later today. Liquid and Passion UA will join M80 in Stage 2.
