NRG take down FaZe Clan WITH A COACH, A MANAGER to end Day One up 2-0!
NRG have ended day one of the StarLadder Budapest Major with an insane 13-10 upset over FaZe Clan, many people's favorites for Stage One, on Dust2. The performance was punctuated by fantastic play from Alexander "br0" Bro and Zack "XotiC" Elshani while coach stand-in Damian "daps" Steele has performed above expectations.
With this win, NRG are now 2-0 heading into day two of Stage One of the StarLadder Budapest Major, shocking everyone as they continue to deliver with the odds stacked against them.
In the fragging department, NRG were clearly in the lead on Dust2, with three of their players, including daps, garnering HLTV ratings above those of FaZe's usual stars. Likewise, while the first half was remarkably close with a 6-6 scoreline, daps' calling on NRG's CT-side came alive with great positioning and a number of ballsy plays including a tunnel push to secure map point.
With this, NRG passed all the key milestones in the second half first, securing double digits, map point, and ultimately the win, while Finn "karrigan" Andersen's troops were uncharacteristically sloppy in the 13-10 loss.
NRG will know their Round Three opponent in short order.
