FACEIT launches stricter regulations for verified systems and new reporting system in Season 7 update

FACEIT are stepping up their campaign to remove bad actors and improve match quality.

Yesterday FACEIT released a blog post explaining new changes set to come to the matchmaking platform as part of their Season 7 update. Overall, the update focuses on removing bad actors from the platform via stricter regulations for verified accounts, while also overhauling the report system to allow players to submit images, video, and higher-quality reports, hopefully leading to more bans against bad actors.

The update is also set to introduce a new type of Premium Match that requires all players to be verified and have a minimum of 60-500 matches depending on skill level, greatly decreasing the likelihood of having smurfs and other bad actors in games.

Per FACEIT, the Season 7 update will in brief focus on:

  • Tighter checks for verified accounts and top high ranked players: We are launching selfie re-checks, a new ID verification feature that pauses suspicious verified accounts and asks players to take a new selfie to confirm identity. This makes it harder to buy, resell, or misuse accounts verified with someone else’s ID and increases confidence that verified accounts are tied to real players. Recognizing that current checks aren’t always sufficient, we are scaling our integrity review process, starting with a series of manual reviews of our highest-ranked players, where selected high-Elo players may be asked to verify their account history via video call or, in rare cases, a supervised play session.

  • A Higher Bar for Premium Match, With Veteran-Only Matching Expanding Across Core Queues: Previously, non-verified accounts could access Premium Super Match with a subscription and just 30 matches played. Today, Premium Super Match is relaunching as Premium Match, our highest-quality queue with a much stricter entry bar; available only to subscribers with verified accounts who meet a minimum requirement of 50 to 600 matches, depending on their skill level. We are also extending Veteran Matching beyond Premium, allowing veteran subscribers to enable veteran-only matches in 5v5 Standard and Super Match.

  • Richer reports to act on real offenders faster: The new reporting interface is now accessible from both match pages and player profiles, replacing the old FBI thumbs-down icon and merging the previous separate match and profile reports into a single report system that lets you submit more detailed, higher-quality reports. You can now pinpoint the exact round where the offense took place, upload screenshots, link videos, and add comments. High-quality reports will be prioritized over spam to ban real offenders faster, while giving you more frequent notifications when your report is received, reviewed, and resolved.

This update to the FACEIT platform follows FACEIT banning 10,000+ Smurf accounts last week while also pushing a number of updates to their anti-cheat in October. Overall, FACEIT seem to be heavily focused on increasing the integrity of their platform and restoring confidence after being heavily criticized by a number of former and current pros this year.
