FACEIT bans more than 11K smurf accounts
FACEIT confirmed today that they have issued a large ban wave "of 11,057 accounts for multi-account abuse, including smurfing."
A peek at the FACEIT ban list shows that many of these bans have been applied in pairs; a permanent ban on the smurf account itself, and a month-long ban on the main account of the user who was playing on a smurf account.
Today's wave represents the second time in just a week where FACEIT has issued over 10,000 account bans. On Sunday, November 9th, the platform issued 10,179 bans, with just under half of those listed as smurfing bans.
As smurfing bans fall under the "account integrity ban" category, first time offenders will receive a one-month ban on their main account and three months probation. A second smurfing violation would result in a one-year ban followed by six months probation.
FACEIT's rating restore feature should restore skill rating to players that played against and lost matches to smurfs.
