CROSSFIRE Season 3 group stage loses Ranked status due to TOR mistake
On Monday CROSSFIRE announced that the group stage of their Season 3 event had been stripped of Ranked status due to the tournament organizer failing to disclose the prizepool by the deadline per Valve's 4.3 Additional Information requirement found in the Tournament Operating Requirements (TOR). The mistake will see CROSSFIRE Season 3 play out as an Unranked event, at least for the group stage, as CROSSFIRE still pursues Ranked status and HLTV coverage for their NA events.
CROSSFIRE's owner Amr "Crown" Ali owned up to the mistake on X, stating that the TO hopes to have a smoother tournament for Season 4. Fortunately, CROSSFIRE said that HLTV may allow them to run playoffs as a separate Ranked event.
The event started on December 1st with the group stage and will run until January 25th.
