CS2 May 5/13 Update launches Premier Season 2 Leaderboard, patches bug featured at PGL Astana 2025

The WOOD7 Scout saga has come to a close.

Valve have pushed a small patch today for Counter-Strike 2, with the update fixing a bug that featured prominently at PGL Astana 2025, finally launching the Season Two Premier leaderboard, and updating some cosmetic settings. The update is Valve's third patch this week following the release of the "Mission Possible" with the developer seemingly picking up the pace of improvements and additions to the game after releasing no updates over the course of April.

The most significant change in this patch fixes an oversight that allowed players to purchase a weapon via the "Buy & Throw" feature, let a teammate use the gun, and then refund it before the buy period is up.

This oversight allowed for an interesting play at PGL Astana 2025 where ODDIK's Adriano "WOOD7" Cerato was able to get his hands onto a Scout from a teammate, fire a few rounds down mid on Dust2, and then have the same teammate sell it back. This play raised eyebrows in the community with some questioning whether it should be allowed despite PGL explicitly allowing it before the TO caved to pressure and banned it. However, whether or not a TO allows it is now moot as it has been fully patched.

The full patch notes read:

GAMEPLAY

  • Fixed a bug where weapons purchased with "Buy & Throw" could be refunded after firing.

PREMIER

  • Season Two world and regional leaderboards are now populated.

MISC

  • Added HUD "Glow Weapon with Rarity Color" setting.

  • Minimally scraped stickers now cover over the gap on the front grip of the AK-47.
