Breaking: NRG bench br0
NRG have announced the benching of Alexander "br0" Bro, seeing the former Danish rifler exit the starting lineup following NRG's disastrous exit from Stage One of IEM Cologne Major 2026. br0 joined NRG in January 2025 as a replacement for Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte.
During his time under NRG, br0 helped the organization recover from a fairly dire start to their time in Counter-Strike 2, with br0 serving as one of many gradual improvements that would help the team qualify to the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 and become a regular Major attendee.
Domestically, br0 also helped NRG become a dominant force on the local LAN circuit, as NRG claimed three FRAG trophies while locked in a deep rivalry with M80 at home. Performance-wise, br0 wraps up his time on NRG with a consistent if modest 1.10 rating over 84 maps in 2026 against all opponents while declining to a 1.00 rating over 52 maps against Top 30 opposition.
It is this lack of performance against Top 30 teams that perhaps sealed br0's fate as NRG have struggled to find their place in the tier-one LAN circuit, as wins have been been few and far between abroad.
The team recently exited Stage One of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 after a historic 12-0 to 12-16 fumble against BIG, marking the team's third Stage One exit in a row.
In a comment to Dust2.us, head coach and general manager Damian "daps" Steele told the publication:
It came down to a change in direction and fit, not his ability as a player. He worked hard for us and improved in many areas so I’m thankful for that. He’s a good player and will help whatever team picks him up next.
NRG are currently:
-
Nick "nitr0" Cannella -
Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek -
Josh "oSee" Ohm -
Michael "Grim" Wince -
Damian "daps" Steele (Coach) -
Alexander "br0" Bro (Inactive)
NRG currently have a clear calendar and will have plenty of time to sound out a replacement for br0 as the scene is set to head into the summer player break.
