Official: ESL confirm adrrr barred from remainder of Cologne after multiple communication infractions
ESL have confirmed that Legacy's coach Alan "adrr" Riveros has been banned from coaching the team for the remainder of the Major following "multiple warnings for interacting with Legacy players during rounds." The situation was first brought to light via an interview between adrrr and Fillipe "BT" Moreno on Gaules' Kick channel, with adrr later telling Dust2 Brasil that he got his third strike during the PARIVISION match for giving a thumbs up after a tactical pause, admitting that he slipped up in the heat of the moment.
As a reminder, Valve implemented strict rules in 2021 governing coach's behavior on stage at Majors, with TOs being obligated to enforce those rules. Section 7.6 of the IEM Cologne Major rulebook states that coaches:
...will only be allowed to talk to the players during tactical pauses and half times. The coach is not allowed to communicate in any other way including, but not limited to, shouting or non-verbal communication (e.g. touching) with players outside of the specified time windows.
Legacy will now need to rapidly adapt to not having their coach behind them heading into Round Four of Stage Three of the IEM Cologne Major, with the team seemingly on course to face G2 tomorrow should Spirit end today with a win over 9z.
