ZywOo kicks off Major with two aces against FUT

As Stage 3 of the IEM Cologne Major begins, all the best teams in the world have now joined the fray in the fight for a spot in the coveted Lanxess Arena. For reigning Major champions Vitality, their campaign began against FUT. Though in Austin and Budapest Vitality lost their opening match, Stage 3 is now all best-of-threes.

Superstar Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut took advantage of this fact when he recovered from a weak map one by picking up an ace on both maps two and three.

The first ace aptly came in round five of Overpass, where ZywOo used his AK-47 to great effect in a 3v5 then 1v3 post-plant to keep their flawless run going at 5-0.

The next ace came in the pistol round of Nuke to keep Vitality's momentum from the last map. ZywOo made the Dual Berettas sing as he picked up five kills on the CT-side.

For a player of ZywOo's stature, he has surprisingly few aces at Majors. The two from today were only the fourth and fifth Major aces of his career. With those in the bag, he is now tied at #4 with EliGE, rain, and teammate ropz on the all-time Major aces tier list. Ahead of them are donk and NiKo with seven, and Magisk with nine.

With their win over FUT, Vitality are now 1-0 in the Stage 3 Swiss as they await their opponent for tomorrow's match.
