Celestial top $1k EMPIRE CS2 LAN Series #1
This weekend ESEA Advanced squad Celestial topped The $1,000 EMPIRE CS2 LAN Series #1, winning the New York City TO's first LAN event while securing the $500 first-place prize. The one-day LAN was held at OS NYC's LAN center in Manhattan and saw 11 teams complete in the Bo1 Round Robin group stage and the Bo3 single-elimination playoffs.
Celestial breezed through the group stage, claiming a 13-5 win over Lighty's Retirement Home on Inferno and a 13-4 win over Omniscience on Dust2. This gave Celestial a bye into the semifinals in the playoffs, with the bracket turning out in a such a way that they faced Lighty's Retirement Home once again. This ended up being an equally one-sided win for Celestial as they won map one 13-6 and map two 13-0.
On the other side of the bracket Brunson Egg & Cheese took down Exnitas 13-11 on Anubis to meet Degenerates in the semifinals. This match went the way of Bradley "Slugy" Kohler and co. as they won Mirage 13-3 and Dust2 13-6.
With the grand finals set, Degenerate struck the first blow by winning Mirage 13-8 before Celestial struck back with a 13-9 win on Inferno before winning the series with a dominant 13-1 victory on Overpass.
