G2 and FaZe join wait lists for Romanian LANs to try and gain VRS points ahead of IEM Cologne Major invites
With neither team reaching the playoffs in the latest season of ESL Pro League, G2 and FaZe have turned to the open circuit as a last-ditch effort to gain LAN VRS points before the IEM Cologne Major invites go out. Both of G2 and FaZe have joined the wait list for the upcoming BC.Game Masters Championship in Romania while FaZe have also thrown their hat into the ring to try and claim a spot at DraculaN VI. Both events are set to take place in the same venue in Bucharest, Romania and will respectively run from March 24th to 26th and March 29th to April 2nd.
Both teams are trying to attend these smaller LANs to rack up more VRS points before the major cutoff in early April. It's no secret that FaZe's start to the year has been abysmal as the team are now struggling to make the first Major of 2026. With the tier-one competition at BLAST Open Rotterdam making any success uncertain, FaZe are relying on these tier-two LANs to get enough points to reach the major.
While G2 are in a better spot, they still have a lot to gain. On March 8th, VRS enthusiast Mischief calculated that G2 have a 99.8% chance to make the major, far more than FaZe at 50.2%. While they are almost certainly a lock to qualify for IEM Cologne, G2 likely have their sights set on a Stage 3 invite as they are near the cusp. As G2 will not be at Rotterdam, the BC.Game Masters Championship serves as a solid opportunity to keep themselves in the race for a spot deep in the major.
Though they are signed up, it's unclear as of now whether they will get spots or not, as they are currently wait listed. Should they get the spots, they will both be invited directly to the 16-team playoffs, as they would be in the top eight teams by VRS rank at the event.
