G2 miss all three chances for EPL playoffs

After defeating FaZe and NAVI to close in on ESL Pro League Season 23 playoffs qualification, G2 suffered three straight losses and have missed the playoffs entirely. Their losses came against Spirit, Aurora, and FUT, all Top 15 teams. However, their initial victories came against similarly ranked opposition, leaving fans wondering what changed over the course of Stage 2.

Unfortunately for North American rifler Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, he finished seven of G2's 12 maps with ratings below 1.00. Only IGL Nemanja "huNter" Kovač posted a lower rating over the entirety of Stage 2, though both seemed to struggle on the attacking side.

This isn't the first time G2's inconsistencies and slumps have cost them. At PGL Cluj-Napoca, they started 0-2 before coming back 2-2 for a chance for playoffs. However, they ultimately fell short, now leaving them with little to show through the first few months of 2026.

We'll see if that changes before (or during) the upcoming Major.
