G2 breeze past Liquid in BLAST Open London 2025
G2 have sent Liquid to the lower bracket of BLAST Open London 2025 following a comfortable 2-0 victory this Thursday, August 25th. This means that Liquid now need to win three best-of-three series in a row to qualify for the LAN finals next week.
Liquid put their chips on Train, a map that G2 had played only two times in the past three months, but it didn't work out. Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko put on a masterclass (1.74 rating, 115.6 ADR, and +6.60% Round Swing), which proved to be crucial for G2's victory.
The series then moved to G2's pick Inferno, and they absolutely dismantled Liquid on both sides. G2 kept Liquid's CT-side humble (9-3) and went on to close out the game without losing a round on their CT-side.
Although Liquid looked unprepared for Inferno, there isn't much you can do when Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa drops 24 kills, 145.3 ADR, +15.75% Round Swing, and an absurd 2.53 rating. He was unstoppable, especially on the T-side, and tore Liquid's defense apart.
Liquid's poor performance didn't go unnoticed, as the Canadian caster Mohan "launders" Govindasamy wrote on X during Train that the "comms must be absolutely awful, or they’re taking performance dehancing drugs."
Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek's troops will have the chance to redeem themselves this Saturday, August 30th, when they face Imperial in their first elimination game during this online phase of BLAST Open London.
