M80 take a map off Vitality in BLAST Open London 2025 opener
M80 had a good showing today against Vitality in the opening round of the BLAST Open London 2025. Elias "s1n" Stein won the first map of the series, but despite their best efforts, Vitality reverse-swept them and advanced to the group A upper bracket semifinals.
Despite barely getting any sleep as they played InControl in the ESL Challenger League NA last night, M80 looked fresh as ever on Overpass this morning. They looked extremely prepared on their map pick, and won their first half by 9-3 on T-side.
M80 didn't slow down whatsoever and won the first four rounds on the CT-side to defeat Vitality by 13-4. Everyone but s1n finished with a positive K-D, and Mason "Lake" Sanderson was better than anyone else, having finished with 19 frags and only nine deaths, and an unreal 118.1 ADR.
However, Vitality picked up the slack on Dust2 and tied the series thanks to a very convincing CT-side in the second half (7-1), in which Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut popped off with eleven kills and a 123.2 ADR. Unfortunately for M80, Michael "Swisher" Schmid was the only one really putting up frags, and his heroics weren't enough.
The series moved on to Inferno, and M80's lackluster T-side (4-8) ended up costing them the game.
M80 had some great rounds on the CT-side in the second half, but Vitality eventually adapted and found a way to close out the game.

It's not over yet for M80, though, as they'll play Virtus.pro on Friday, August 29th, in an elimination series. Besides that match, M80 will need to win two more to make it to the LAN finals of BLAST Open London.
