Report: NRG set to bench HexT and oSee in favor of nosraC and XotiC
Dust2.us has learned from multiple sources that NRG are set to make significant changes to their lineup which will see the team bench Jadan "HexT" Postma and Josh "oSee" Ohm in favor of the shock additions of Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly and Zack "XotiC" Elshani.
The changes to NRG's Counter-Strike 2 roster follow the team's poor showing at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, which saw the team exit Stage One with a 2-3 record following a Bo1 loss to HEROIC and Bo3 losses to OG and Lynn Vision. This result capped off an unremarkable season for NRG which saw the team dominate in online domestic competitions but fail to gain ground at the international level.
Outside of the Major the team were knocked out of IEM Dallas 2025 without a single map and were also knocked out of Fragadelphia x LVL UP EXPO 2025 by NIP in a close series in the semifinals.
NRG's decision to stake their future on nosraC and XotiC is fascinating from many angles as the duo join NRG after twisting and turning careers that have seen the players find competitive success in NA while also being embroiled in multiple controversies over the years.
nosraC has plied his trade in a number of roles on teams like ChocoCheck, Gaimin Gladiators, and Nouns, winning a number of NA events while falling short of success at the international level multiple times.
Out of the server, nosraC has proven a polarizing figure as he has battled a reputation of being a "toxic" teammate, being punished by FACEIT multiple times while former teammates have criticized him on multiple occasions. Additionally, his brief ban by ESIC due to allegedly failing to report a conspiracy to matchfix by his former Rebirth teammates in 2021 has loomed large especially as nosraC is to date one of only a handful of players ever sanctioned by ESIC in North America.
However, his willingness to reinvent himself and take on different responsibilities in teams as well as his role in developing players like future teammate Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott cannot be overlooked and is perhaps the key to NRG's interest especially after finding success with disparate pieces on Getting Info.
While the reported nosraC signing paints a complicated picture, XotiC may prove to be the biggest gamble of all for NRG. Despite his lengthy tenure in the NA scene XotiC hasn't played for a professional organization since Splyce all the way in 2018 and has never attended a LAN event, with anxiety and other issues allegedly prompting him to skip multiple hugely important events in the past seven years – ESL Pro League Season 7 Relegation and the ESEA MDL Season 29 Global Challenge.
He is also a complete unknown on social media, foregoing X and Twitch entirely resulting in XotiC being somewhat of an enigma outside of a close circle of teammates.
XotiC has also spent extended periods of time out of the game in recent years, retiring multiple times and even allegedly hiding his identity years ago to stay out of the limelight. This has resulted in the player having limited professional experience in Counter-Strike 2 especially in a structured environment.
Overall, XotiC has only played 48 maps on HLTV since 2021 and will likely need to put in a lot of work to adapt to pro play.
Despite all of these factors, as an AWPer you would be hard pressed to find one in NA with a higher ceiling as XotiC has been viewed as a player with the potential for explosive performances and the ability to post great numbers on the server. He currently boasts an insane 1.34 rating over a limited 14 maps, notably helping to power Getting Info to a victory at the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #2.
With all things said, with NRG expected to pick up the duo in short order, the move should be seen as a significant gamble by NRG to break the string of underwhelming results the organization has seen since returning to Counter-Strike in 2023, with there likely being a hope that the brain trust of Nick "nitr0" Cannella and Damian "daps" Steele can develop these "diamonds in the rough" into great prospects while also maintaining a supermajority NA roster.
nosraC and XotiC are expected to make their debut for NRG in short order as NRG will be attending Fragadelphia 19 in short order on July 17th.
NRG are expected to consist of:
-
Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott
-
Nick "nitr0" Cannella
-
Alexander "br0" Bro
-
Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly
-
Zack "XotiC" Elshani
-
Damian "daps" Steele (Coach)
-
Jadan "HexT" Postma (Inactive)
-
Josh "oSee" Ohm (Inactive)
NRG declined to comment on the move when Dust2.us reached out to the organization ahead of publication.
