New CS2 scam used a fake game on Steam to steal CS2 skins

If you trade skins regularly, watch out for this scam.

Scammers have found a new way to deceive CS2 traders. They have created fake CS2 skins for an also fake game called Pumbler's Legacy to get their hands on actual CS2 skins.

This new scam was first brought to attention by Redditor Key-Appearance-7257 and RemIx, a self-proclaimed "Counter-Strike skins enthusiast" who posts regularly on X.

The scammers send trade offers with the fake CS2 items from Pumbler's Legacy to steal actual CS2 skins as highlighted in the post below. The crux of the scam is that Pumbler's Legacy features items that are almost identical to real Counter-Strike 2 items down to the description, wear, and CS2 game icon. The only give away is that the items are clearly not from CS2, however you'd only know that if you looked closely and hovered over the item to pull up its full description.

As of the moment of this writing, the Steam page for Plumber's Legacy doesn't exist anymore as Valve have seemingly taken it down. However, scammers might try to create a new fake game and repeat this method.

So, if you're into skin trading, be sure to inspect the item in-game before accepting any trades to avoid any headaches.
