Valve to restrict roster changes after Major invites are sent
Valve introduced a new rule for the StarLadder Budapest Major on July 1st. From now on, teams will have to utilize the same lineup that earned the invitation to the Major via the Valve Regional Standings (VRS).
After the teams are invited to the Major, they can add a new coach or a substitute, as long as this doesn't change the region the team has been allocated to.
Before this change, the rule only said that teams must have five players. This change will restrict teams from making roster changes after the invites are sent.
To put things into perspective, Falcons replaced Abdul"degster" Gasanov with Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov one week after the organization was invited for the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
If Valve introduced this rule before, m0NESY would have been stuck on G2 and unable to make the jump to Falcons for the Major.
The StarLadder Budapest Major invites will be defined on October 8th. This time around, all 32 teams will be invited based on their position on the VRS that day, as Valve has extinguished the Major Regional Qualifiers (MRQs) in June.
