Report: Wildcard target Peeping for post-Major roster change
Dust2.us has learned from multiple sources that Wildcard are currently in negotiations with former Nouns player Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell to add the American rifler following the conclusion of the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
While Dust2.us has been unable to confirm who Peeping would replace on the Wildcard roster, it is understood that one of Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek or Tim "susp" Ångström would make way for Peeping as Wildcard aim to have a majority North American roster.
Wildcard's interest in Peeping comes as the 19-year-old rifler has proven himself to be one of NA's most exciting prospects, with Peeping posting strong numbers during the last twelve months while playing for the likes of Elevate, timbermen, Party Astronauts, and Nouns. In 2025, Peeping boasts an impressive 1.25 rating over 99 maps, positioning himself as a potential star rifler within Wildcard.
Additionally, the addition of Peeping would result in Wildcard becoming a majority North American roster in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS). While the team’s mixed NA/EU core was largely inconsequential for the most of the year, it became a significant issue for Wildcard during the BLAST.tv Austin Major MRQs.
Due to Europe being the larger region for the Austin Major, Wildcard were faced with having to play in the EU MRQ, thus making their road to the Major far more difficult. In order to avoid this fate, Wildcard employed a "loophole" to make their team American by fielding Jake "Stewie2K" Yip in place of Love "phzy" Smidebrant for the PGL Astana NA Closed Qualifier — the final event before the MRQs — thus making the team "American" in Valve's eyes, even if they did not use Stewie2K for the MRQ.
As such, adding Peeping after the Major would both serve a pragmatic purpose for Wildcard, by making the team really and truly North American, while also securing the services of a serious NA prospect.
Dust2.us understands that Wildcard have been interested in Peeping’s services for some time, with the team reportedly attempting to acquire the player, alongside Nouns AWPer Paytyn "junior" Johnson, ahead of the BLAST.tv Austin Major NA MRQ.
Wildcard will head into the BLAST.tv Austin Major when it kicks off on June 3rd, with the team expected to close with Peeping during the following summer player break.
Dust2.us reached out to Wildcard's manager Jeremy "Jeremy9000" Gray for comment. He has characterized the report as "inaccurate".
