Breaking: Complexity enlist junior and adreN for Austin major; hallzerk will "most likely" miss event
Complexity General Manager Graham "messioso" Pitt has confirmed on his stream today that COL have added former Nouns duo Paytyn "junior" Johnson and Eric "adreN" Hoag for the BLAST.tv Austin Major as substitutes, with junior likely to step for Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli as the Norwegian AWPer has experienced extended delays in acquiring an American P1 visa.
messioso explained that despite the organization and hallzerk's best efforts, attempts to acquire a P1 visa for hallzerk has been held up in processing, with the player "most likely" missing America's first Major in seven years.
With that in mind, Complexity have scooped up junior to play in hallzerk's place marking the AWPers return to Complexity, albeit temporarily, after last playing for COL from January 2022 to July 2022. Should junior play, he will reunite with Johnny "JT" Theodosiou and Michael "Grim" Wince from the 2022 Complexity lineup as well as Nick "nicx" Lee from the late 2024 Nouns roster. It would also be his first Major since PGL Major Antwerp 2022 as the past three years has seen junior fall short of Counter-Strike's biggest stage while playing with Evil Geniuses and Nouns.
adreN's surprise addition to Complexity also comes as COL are still on the lookout for a new coach, with this potentially being a "soft launch" for the former Liquid and Nouns coach on Complexity. adreN recently left Nouns after funding from the DAO dried up and has been seeking a new role since then. He has previously worked with the majority of the roster, having rubbed shoulders with Grim on Liquid while recently working with nicx and junior on Nouns.
Complexity are likely to attend the BLAST.tv Austin Major with:
-
Johnny "JT" Theodosiou
-
Michael "Grim" Wince
-
Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk
-
Nick "nicx" Lee
-
Paytyn "junior" Johnson (Substitute)
-
Eric "adreN" Hoag (Coach)
The BLAST.tv Austin Major is set to start on June 2nd with Complexity set to take on OG in their opening matchup.
