ESL Challenger League Playoffs NA S49 Day 3: Top teams clash in the lower bracket
The third day of the ECL Season 49 Playoffs concluded yesterday, with the upper final and two lower bracket matches.
Upper Final
NRG faced Nouns in the upper bracket final. Both of these teams were on a high as they each defeated the top two seeds in the playoffs in the previous round. NRG chose to start the series on Train, but fell behind 5-0 to begin the map. They kept their composure, however, taking thirteen of the next sixteen rounds to win their map pick 13-8.
The series then shifted to Mirage, Nouns' pick. A back-and-forth first half left the score at 6-6, with Nouns then moving to the more-favored CT side. However, NRG took complete control and once again won 13-8 to book their spot in the grand final. NRG will have a one-map advantage in the best-of-five series against the lower bracket winner.
Lower Semis
LFO 4 forfeited their lower semifinal match against BLUEJAYS because one of their players couldn't play and they did not have a substitute.
In the other match, Getting Info played against Legacy. Getting Info chose Mirage to start the series, but went down 7-5 in the first half. Legacy were able to close out the game 13-8 to steal their opponent's map pick.
The Brazilians chose Ancient to try to finish the series 2-0. Legacy took a 7-5 lead into halftime after their T side and were primed to end the series in the second half. However, Getting Info answered back with a 7-5 half of their own to force overtime and keep their ECL playoff hopes alive. Legacy didn't blink in the overtime, winning 16-14 to win the series and move on to face BLUEJAYS in the lower final.
Tonight, the lower final between Legacy and BLUEJAYS will begin at 09:00PM.
