fer reveals FURIA chose YEKINDAR over him

Fernando "fer" Alvarenga said in a recent stream that he almost joined FURIA as their fifth player this month. However, the Brazilian organization ended up replacing Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes and Felipe "skullz" Medeiros with European imports Danil "molodoy" Golubenko and Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis.

According to fer, he was going to replace skullz when YEKINDAR came knocking, and FURIA decided to sign the Latvian over him.

Below, you can find what fer said about nearly joining FURIA. We translated what he said and made light edits for the sake of clarity.

FURIA called me and I said yes, but in the end, they chose YEKINDAR. [Before that] FalleN called me, and explained what was going on, and what would happen in FURIA, and told me that he thought about bringing me in, and the other guys were interested.

I told him that I was interested in joining FURIA. This went on for nearly two weeks, and we were talking. I knew that molodoy would take the AWP from FalleN and that he'd become an IGL rifler, and that they would make one more move.

YEKINDAR was going to make a team, supposedly with s1mple and Perfecto, but they couldn't make a deal with the organization they wanted to play for. I had already talked to sidde [FURIA's coach] via a video call, and everything was practically decided, and we decided to schedule a meeting with all the players.

Half an hour before the meeting, YEKINDAR messaged FURIA and told them that the team he was putting up fell through and that he was available. FURIA chose to sign YEKINDAR, and they told me what was going to happen. I wished them good luck.

fer has been away from competition since he departed Imperial in January 2023. He tried to qualify for the PGL Copenhagen Major RMR with O PLANO, but they didn't make it out of the open qualifier.

Perhaps that was one of the factors that made FURIA choose YEKINDAR over fer. FalleN also said recently that YEKINDAR will help molodoy to adapt to FURIA as they speak the same language.
