autimatic quits Counter-Strike for golf
Update: autimatic wrote on X after we published this story that he's still planning to post some CS videos on YouTube.
Timothy "autimatic" Ta has stopped playing CS2 to focus on golf, a new hobby of his. The ELEAGUE Boston Major 2018 champion is also documenting his golf journey and posting daily videos on both Instagram and TikTok.

autimatic already posted 22 videos of a series called "Day X of Quitting My Job To Play Golf". In the 16th video, he talked a bit about why he's focusing on golf right now.
I signed my first pro contract 10 years ago, and I competed in tournaments all around the world. I was also lucky enough to win a couple. This was my dream job that I worked 20 years of my life towards, so why quit?
Well, I got burnt out. For the last year, I was in a slump that I couldn't really figure out. Being young and naive, I tried to pour as much time as possible into figuring it out.
I like running, [and] I stopped doing it. I like climbing, [and] I stopped doing it. However, golf was different. For some reason, even though I'm new to golf, I feel like it's a game I've played before. That's probably because it's so similar to Counter-Strike in terms of decision making, in terms of technical skill, and probably the most fun part, the mental warfare that you go through.
This golf arc is somewhat surprising as autimatic had said in a video entitled "Why NA CS sucks" that he'd make content for North America, to "hopefully bring some more eyes to NA and maybe bring a sense of community", which he thinks is lacking.
autimatic, however, never uploaded a CS video after that one and is now seemingly focusing everything on golf. He's been inactive from professional CS2 since NRG benched him in November and announced a break from competition back in February.
