After missing out on the Austin Major, Warden says the team is confident of making it next time around

Warden on Major Qualification: "It's only a matter of time before we accomplish our goal"

This was BLUEJAYS' first LAN after removing Wolffe.

Dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore chatted with BLUEJAYS coach Matt "Warden" Dickens after their playoff clinching win against LFO 4 at Fragadelphia x LVL UP EXPO Vegas. The two discussed BLUEJAY's performance at FRAG Vegas, the addition of Derek "dare" Brown, missing out on the Austin major, and the team's form in 2025 thus far.

The full interview can be found below on YouTube, with key snippets underneath.

How are you feeling about the overall level of the team since it's your first LAN after adding dare?

With all the delays yesterday, it was just a slow start. We sat around all day yesterday, and then sat around for a good part today before we got in and got started.

Not happy to be dropping a map to LFO 4, but they're a talented team and it's not the end of the world. As long as we can keep playing at a high level, I'll be happy at this event.

What led to dare being picked up? Was it just a natural addition because snav's played with him so much? What was the process of bringing him in?

We did look at a couple of other players. It was one of snav's recommendations, he enjoyed playing with dare in timbermen. Off that recommendation, he was tried out and we liked what we saw. He's a glue guy who can fill a lot of different roles on the team.

A big topic of conversation around the roster change has been the fact that it came right before MRQ. Was that a consideration for the team at all?

Unfortunately, it was one of those situations where our team felt like the change had to happen. Obviously, we highly considered when to make the change, before or after the MRQ. The team was getting to a critical point where we all thought we'd be better off making the change before.

Despite the change coming two weeks before the MRQ, BLUEJAYS went far, ultimately finishing in fourth place behind NRG. What are the thoughts on the team's overall performance?

This core roster of BOSS, we've been around for a while. We've been on the cusp of making the Major multiple times now, and we're gonna stick with it. We know if we stick with it and keep improving, it's only a matter of time before we accomplish our goal.

BLUEJAYS ultimately claimed a top-four finish at Fragadelphia x LVL UP EXPO Vegas, besting Chicken Coop and Fisher College in playoffs before falling to Sharks.
