Astralis reportedly exploring sale of brand and CS division
Astralis is actively trying to sell its brand, IP rights, and the CS division, according to a report by HLTV. Dust2.dk, our sister website, also reports that Ninjas in Pyjamas' former Chief Operating Officer Jonas "calc" Gundersen is interested in acquiring Astralis.
These reports come less than ten days after Astralis failed to qualify for the BLAST.tv Austin Major, thus missing their fifth Major in a row. On the same day, CS2 insider Aleksey "OverDrive" Biryukov said that Astralis would either shut down or sell the organization to new owners.
While Dust2.dk knows Mr. Gundersen is interested in Astralis, it's unclear whether he has already made a bid or is facing any competition to acquire the Danish organization that won four CS:GO Majors between 2017 and 2019.
According to Dust2.dk, Astralis' potential sale price is between $2-3 million. However, they don't know whether that includes the current players or if this value is just for the Astralis brand alone. This novel could go on for months, especially if another party tries to buy Astralis as well.
For now, Astralis are preparing to play at PGL Astana, which kicks off on May 10th, with Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen as a stand-in. The former G2 in-game leader has replaced Casper "cadiaN" Møller in the lineup, and Astralis also parted ways with its Sports Director Kasper Straube.
