Legacy took down the second-best team in the world to make the semifinals

dumau: "We have too much potential; we know what we are capable of"

dumau and Legacy are climbing up the VRS rankings.

Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore of Dust2.us had the chance to speak with Legacy's Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer following his team's 2-1 win over NAVI at IEM Atlanta, which secured the Brazilians a spot in the semifinals.

dumau spoke about his team's recent improvements, that state of the Brazilian CS scene, and the prospects of facing fellow Brazilians paiN in the semifinals in Atlanta.

What a massive scalp to take, 2-1 hardfought victory over the number two team in the world. How is Legacy feeling after that massive win?

Feeling great now to be in the semifinals. It's a great thing for us to start in the playoffs. Yeah, just feeling amazing.

It caps off a pretty amazing season for you guys. Of course, you still have the Major ahead of you, but you have a lot to be proud of already this year. A lot of great results in the Brazilian scene and strong results internationally as well. When you added arT earlier in the year, did you think the team would be able to quickly rise like this to become a top-15 team?

Yes, because we have too much potential to do more things because in practice and playing the game, we know what we are capable of. I think we just have to realize that against teams and now together, being a unit, we can do it. The more we play, the stronger we're going to get. Today, we weren't too on individually, but as a team we could step up and play better.

You're the second Brazilian team to lock in playoffs alongside paiN. Overall, this has been almost a renaissance for the Brazilian scene. We have FURIA, who's a top-ten team in their own right and then paiN is a very relevant team.

As far back as I can remember, having three tier-one Brazilian teams is something we've never had before. Do you think there's a reason why the Brazilian scene has flourished so much this year? Maybe MORE local LANS?

Local LANs, they're good to show more players. I think the teams are just developing the game. Everybody's studying and even in practicing in South America, they're developing their games and focusing on themselves. This is making the teams better.

I don't think CS now is too many things, it's simple things that you can do with your team and then you can step up, play the game, and win against some good teams.

We have the potential of you meeting paiN in the semifinals, should they win their quarterfinal match on Friday. Are you guys going to be rooting for paiN to make it in the semifinals. Is that someone you want to play in the semifinals?

Yeah, rooting for them because we like them because they're Brazilians. Even though we are from other teams, we wish them the best that they can win and we could be together. Yeah we are cheering for them so then we can play in the semi-finals, two Brazilian teams. This is very good for our scene and I think it's good for everybody.

So that gives you a potential path to the finals, not having to face a rematch against NAVI or face Vitality. Do you think a return to to the grand final is in your hand? That it's something that's very achievable after beating NAVI today?

Yes, but I think we just have to keep our feet on the ground now and just wait. Keep watching ourselves and keep improving our attitude and some things. Even winning today, we were not great as a unit.

I think we have more things to develop so we have to talk more and then we can be better for the next games. Every day we just want to win, doesn't matter the team. Every day we are trying to win, improve, and be better for each other.
