Valve bans nearly a million bot farming accounts

This could be a sign of an armory update.

Valve has banned just under a million bot accounts after an in-depth investigation, according to a Valve employee on Reddit. The prevalence of bot accounts is one of the biggest non-gameplay issues in CS2, alongside the effectiveness of the Valve Anti-Cheat.

This would not be the first time that Valve has mass-banned bot accounts in the lead-up to new additions to the armory, as X user olafkswg pointed out.

The aforementioned Valve dev thanked those who reported the bot accounts and said that the reports directly helped the investigation and banning of the bots in question.

Some players reacted positively, saying that they have noticed the bot issue over the past several months, while others lamented the ongoing cheating issue in CS2.

Others took a jab at Valve, saying, "Banning 1 million bots and watching the concurrent player count drop by 1 million is gonna be a rough day at Valve HQ."

Valve does a lot of their work behind the scenes, leaving users to speculate what their goals are for the long-term state of play in CS2.
