FRAG York enters semifinals with all favorites still alive

The first semifinal is playing out right now!

After another gargantuan day of Counter-Strike, FRAG York has reached the semifinals as Stage 2 and the quarterfinals played out yesterday. With 24 bo3s going down in one day, 16 teams were whittled down to the final four, who will compete for the title today.

Despite the chaos of an open LAN like this, the four favorites going into the event have risen to the occasion and survived. LAG, Voca, BOSS, and Fisher College are the semifinalists. All four topped their groups in a relatively comfortable fashion, with only Fisher dropping a map on their run.

While all four won their quarterfinals 2-0, Voca and Fisher both needed overtime to convert a map. F5 gave Voca a strong fight on Ancient, but Voca eventually won 16-14. The second map was a non-starter as Voca steamrolled their way to a 13-1 victory on Mirage. Fisher had a comfortable 13-4 on Nuke against Memeories, but needed over 40 rounds to secure a 22-19 win on Mirage.

LAG and BOSS had much smoother series. LAG only gave up thirteen rounds over two maps against NuTorious, while BOSS only lost fifteen to Wanted Goons.

The semifinals are now underway as Voca are taking on BOSS as this is being written. The second semifinal is scheduled for 01:00PM between LAG and Fisher College.

A third-place decider match will run at 04:00PM before the grand final plays out at 07:00PM.

The teams still in contention for the title are:

United States Voca
United States LAG

Fisher College
United States BOSS
