Wildcard miss out on Roman Imperium Cup VII playoffs in devastatingly close tiebreaker

Just two more round wins would've put them through.

Wildcard's run at the Roman Imperium Cup VII has come to an end as they will not advance to the playoffs. Wildcard have not been a significant part of the race for the major, but the exit is painful nonetheless.

After two regulation losses (0 points) to start the group stage, Wildcard managed to win two games in regulation (3 points each). This gave the team six points, tying BetBoom and Sangal. As the three were tied in head-to-head matches, the deciding factor was the overall round difference. Sangal had +3, Wildcard had +9, and BetBoom won with +10.

Wildcard 11-13 Sangal

The match against Sangal played out on Inferno. Sangal started strong with a pistol, helping them to a 4-1 lead. Wildcard were more competitive for the rest of the half, but the score still ended tied at 6-6. The second half saw Wildcard start strong, putting Sangal down 8-11. Then, British duo Cai "CYPHER" Watson and Owen "smooya" Butterfield powered the team to come back, taking the map 13-11.

Wildcard 13-11 BetBoom

The match against BetBoom went down on Overpass. Wildcard had a rough start down 0-5 before they finally got two rounds on their T-side. However, their CT-site proved to be even better than BetBoom's as they won the first seven rounds in a row to take a narrow 10-9 lead. BetBoom won a few rounds that ended up putting them ahead in the tiebreaker, but Wildcard closed the map 13-11.
