M80 exit Journey Spring after embarrassing loss to HEROIC Academy
After cruising through the group stage at Journey Spring, M80 have exited the Swedish LAN in an embarrassing fashion following a 2-0 loss to HEROIC Academy. The loss to HEROIC's junior squad sees M80 fall out of the Swedish LAN far earlier than expected while costing the NA hopefuls valuable VRS points as the team are still fighting to lock in a spot in the IEM Cologne Major.
The series against HEROIC Academy started off on Dust2 with as a dark omen for things to come as HEROIC Academy burst into the series by winning the first six rounds in a row on their T-side before M80 stemmed the bleeding with six rounds in a row on their CT-side to tie up the half. After switching sides, things were initially looking up for M80 as they won their T-side pistol and the next two rounds before HEROIC Academy tied things up with three rounds of their own.
With Dust2 once again in a stalemate M80 won the next two rounds to climb up to eleven rounds before a group effort from HEROIC Academy allowed them to find their tenth round. In round 22 a 3k from Ionuț "Yoghi" Arba on long to win the round led to what can only be described as a collapse from M80 as a pistol round loss then saw HEROIC Academy find their 12th round before taking round 24 to win their map pick 13-11.
After a close loss on Dust2, M80 went into Mirage looking far better as they put on a competent T-side punctuated by a 6-3 start to the half before letting off the gas a bit to lead with a modest 7-5 scoreline heading into the second half. Unfortunately for M80, this second half of their own map pick is where the wheels really fell off the wagon as HEROIC Academy started the half with five rounds in a row to take the lead and find double digits. This lead would never be broken by M80 despite a few anemic rounds as HEROIC looked in control as Radu "HOLY" Vrâncean and Nikolas "Hrdina" Hutira led the charge on the T-side with 24 combined kills to take the map 13-10 and send M80 packing.

This embarrassing loss cost M80 27 points they desperately need in the VRS ahead of the IEM Cologne Major. With the race all but settled M80 will need to wake up and show up at DraculaN Season 6 as it will be their last chance to gain points before invites go out.
