
Marsborne suffer agonizing loss to 9z, drop to Group B decider match at FERJEE In House
Marsborne came into the winners' match in Group B at FERJEE In House hot off a win v. ODDIK. 9z were standing in their way after they won their opening match v. GameHunters.
Marsborne took the first map after a huge comeback on Ancient, but 9z rallied in the next two maps to steal the series from the Americans.
The series began on Ancient, Marsborne's pick. 9z rallied to win eight rounds in a row to close the half after Marsborne took an early 3-1 lead. Facing a 9-3 deficit, Marsborne rattled off six rounds in a row to tie things up. 9z only secured two rounds in the second half as the Americans won the first map 13-11.
9z's choice was Dust2, and they weren't keen on throwing away a first half lead this time. Despite Marsborne taking a 2-0 lead, 9z answered back with ten straight rounds to hold a 10-2 lead at halftime. 9z's streak would extend to thirteen in a row to even the series with a 13-2 masterclass on D2.
The decider was on Inferno, where it was 9z beginning with a 6-2 edge over the American side. 9z's CT half ended with the South Americans holding an 8-4 lead. Marsborne's time on the defensive side began with a stutter, as 9z quickly jumped out to an 11-6 lead. Marsborne did battle back once more, winning six rounds from the final seven to even the score at 12-12 and force overtime. Marsborne held a slight 14-13 lead after their CT side in the first overtime, but 9z won all three of their own rounds on defense to put the Americans away 16-14.
Luciano 'luchov' Herrera went nuclear in the series, dropping 65 frags, twelve more than the next closest player.
Marsborne will now face the winners of ODDIK v. GameHunters in the decider match of Group B at 09:00PM.
