Akimbo return to CS2 with Mongolian-majority roster featuring laxiee, mason

Akimbo are back in action with some familiar faces.

Akimbo have announced their return to Counter-Strike 2 today with the signing of the core of the 100 AIL roster that recently qualified to Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #6 via the second Open Qualifier. The roster features a familiar ensemble of former Akimbo players, with Bishrel "N2o" Tamir, Ochirbileg "obi" Shinebaatar, and Maks "laxiee" Andryei returning to the organization while the lineup is rounded out by Bryan "Marro" Valles and Mason "mason" Watkins.

The signing sees laxiee return to action after spending the past two months on SkinRave's bench following their exit from Counter-Strike 2. It also marks mason's return to action after a brief "NA retirement" after stepping down from LAG back in October 2025 although mason emphasized to Dust2.us that he is planning on playing more casually and is not looking to go pro.

Much like Akimbo's previous Mongolian roster, this new squad will be ineligible for invites in the NA region due to their nationality. Last time around, this proved to only be a minor annoyance for the squad as they were able to grind out open qualifiers, however with open qualifiers drying up in 2026 Akimbo may have a harder time making their way into big NA events.

Despite the expected challenges, Akimbo are expected to be a competitive roster in the NA scene if their previous results are anything to go by, with the core finding much success from 2024 and 2025 and providing the impetus for laxiee's call-up to BLUEJAYS back in July 2025.

Akimbo are now:

  • Bishrel "N2o" Tamir

  • Ochirbileg "obi" Shinebaatar

  • Maks "laxiee" Andryei

  • Mexico Bryan "Marro" Valles

  • United States Mason "mason" Watkins

Akimbo have already debuted in the PGL Astana 2026 NA Open Qualifier #2, with their next event set to be the Dust2.us Eagle Masters Series #6.
