Breaking: NAVI humble FURIA in three-map series, eliminate favorites from StarLadder Budapest Major
In a shock upset, the StarLadder Budapest Major has been turned on its head as NAVI have eliminated FURIA from Major contention with a 2-1 win against the world number one team. The three map series saw FURIA have to play catch up, with heroics required to even force a third map. With that, it all came down to Train where NAVI shocked FURIA with a one-sided beatdown led by Kosovar Major rookie Drin "makazze" Shaqiri.
The start of the series on Mirage was an absolute disaster-class for FURIA as they struggled to get on the board on their CT-side, trailing 4-8 at the half. This quickly led to a complete lockdown from NAVI on their own CT-side, with makazze leading the charge to see NAVI take the map 13-5.
Moving onto Inferno, FURIA's pick, things went from bad to worse for the Brazilian squad as they once again started a map dazed and confused, trailing 9-3 after a 3-3 start after completely losing momentum on their T-side. After NAVI picked up their T-side pistol, FURIA looked set for elimination as they were down 3-10, however in a shock comeback powered by insane theatrics from Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, FURIA were able to stay alive and force overtime. From there, the team had a second life and managed to take Inferno 16-14 to take the series to Train; a map that is normally a reliable favorite for FURIA.
However, in another shock turn of events, FURIA were completely blowout on the map in a frankly embarrassing state, with the normally composed FURIA struggling to do anything against more heroics from makazze and Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov as NAVI climbed up to a 10-2 lead. Things quickly bottomed out in the second half as NAVI kept up the pressure to close out the map 13-3 and take the series 2-1
With FURIA eliminated, the Major is truly open now as Vitality, NAVI, Spirit, and FaZe remain in the running for the StarLadder Budapest Major!
