mason steps down from LAG and announces retirement: "Tough situation IRL and ready to start my next chapter in life"

Changing life circumstances has pushed mason towards retirement.

On October 29th, Mason "mason" Watkins announced his retirement from competitive Counter-Strike 2 while stepping from LAG, marking the end of a four-month tenure with LAG and the conclusion of a playing career that began in earnest in 2022. During his time in the NA Counter-Strike scene, mason played for a number of notable tier-two and tier-three teams including DETONATE, InControl, Vagrants, and LAG.

mason is the second player to retire from LAG in recent weeks, following Kyle "Wolffe" Greenfield in exiting the competitive scene. In his farewell post, mason cited changing life circumstances as the motivating factor behind his retirement.

His retirement notwithstanding, mason will finish the fourth ESL Challenger League Season 50 Cup with his former team due to the roster lock, making it something of a last-dance for this iteration of LAG.

With mason retiring, LAG are now:

  • United States Justin "Sandman" Saulle

  • United States Kevin "consti" Yi

  • Canada Jonathan "djay" Dallal

  • United States Kamron "kmrn" Manii

  • United States Brennan "Aureo" O’Connell (Coach)

LAG will face SkinRave on November 10th.
